Accommodation Terms & Conditions

By booking a stay at The George and Dragon, you agree to the below terms:

Payment Schedule

Your card will be charged 50% of the total reservation price upon booking. The outstanding balance will be automatically charged 7 days prior to check-in.

Cancellation Policy

In the event of a cancellation, a full refund will be issued if the request is made at least 7 days prior to check-in. Cancellations made within 2-7 days before check-in will receive a 50% refund. Reservations cancelled within 2 days of check-in will not be refunded. All cancellations must be made in writing to info@georgeanddragoncley.co.uk

Check-in and Check-out policy

Check-in is available from 3pm and check-out is by 11am. Early check-in and late check-outs are possible for an additional fee and are subject to availability. We are unable to accept same day requests, so please let us know as soon as possible.


The number of guests accommodated in the property may not exceed the number agreed and declared at the time of booking, without our prior written agreement. We reserve the right to refuse admittance or terminate a booking if this condition is not observed. No refunds will be given if admittance has been refused for this reason.

Guest Behaviour

We have a zero tolerance policy towards behaviour that is abusive, threatening or violent towards staff or other guests. If anyone that visits the property during your reservation behaves in this manner, we will terminate your right to occupy the accommodation.

Guest responsibilities

For the duration of your booking, you will be responsible for the room contents and will be expected to take all reasonable care of it. Guests are responsible for paying The George and Dragon for any losses or damages to the room and its contents (reasonable wear and tear excluded) and inform us immediately.


Lost keys will be charged at cost plus administration fee.

No Smoking Policy

All rooms at The George and Dragon are strictly no smoking. If this policy is ignored, The George and Dragon could fine you up to £250 to cover the cost of a professional steam cleaning company.

Pet Policy

Well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout the hotel. However, a £15 fee per stay is charged with room reservations. We kindly ask that the below rules are adhered to:

  • No dogs on the beds or furniture
  • No dogs to be left unattended in the room at any time
  • Owners to clear up after their dogs whilst on the property

Please be aware that failure to clean up any foul mess from your pet will result in a minimum of a £50 fine.

Termination of Stay

We reserve the right to terminate your use and occupation of the property in the event of;

  • Non-payment of monies due
  • Any illegal or immoral activity
  • Unauthorised parties or gatherings where the number of visitors to the property exceeds the agreed occupancy
  • Unreasonable noise or behaviour (which The George and Dragon management reserve the right to determine)
  • Operation of any form of commercial activity from the property

Restaurant Terms & Conditions

By booking a table in The George and Dragon restaurant, you agree to the below terms:

Reservation Conditions

Tables are available for two hours or such shorter time communicated to you in your booking confirmation, after which they will be re-booked for another customer. Please contact www. if you would like to stay at your table for longer than two hours and, if we have space available, we will do our best to accommodate you. For tables booked at 8pm or later, your table will not be re-booked, but please do let us know if you’d like to stay for longer than two hours.

We respectfully ask that you are ready to be seated at the time of your reservation to ensure the best possible level of service to all our guests. If you are running late, we kindly ask that you notify us by telephone at your earliest convenience. Your table will be held for 15 minutes after which time it may be allocated to another customer.

Should you wish to have a drink prior to being seated, please arrive earlier, or change your reservation to a later time. You may continue your experience in the bar for drinks after your meal.

Cancellation Policy

We require at least twenty-four hours’ notice for every cancellation. For bookings cancelled with less than twenty-four hours’ notice, we will charge £10.00 per person. In the event that you do not show up, the same charges will apply. We also may request a deposit to guarantee a table on busy days. We are sorry that cancellation charges and deposits have become necessary, but we have had too many “no-shows” resulting in empty tables we could have reserved for other customers.

Table Allocation

Due to the large number of requests, unfortunately we cannot guarantee window tables or specific areas when taking reservations, but we will do our best to accommodate your requests. Your understanding is appreciated.

Food Safety and Allergens

We respectfully ask that food that has not been prepared in our kitchens is not consumed on our premises. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes celebratory cakes. Please do contact us if you are planning to provide a cake of celebration for your guests. The reasons we have implemented this policy are that we are (i) often unable to find a place to store the cake in a fridge, which is often required for food safety purposes, (ii) the service of food not on the menu can impact our quality of service to the customer who brought the cake and customers on other tables, especially if we were not warned in advance, (iii) in the event of an alleged food poisoning or serious allergic reaction of one of our guests, we would be unable to trace the source in accordance with our Food Safety procedures.

We cater for most dietary requirements and have strict policies in place for customers with food allergies. These policies and our allergen menus are available to view online here. Please let us know of any allergies before you place your order at the restaurant and check our allergen menu before choosing your dish. This will ensure that we are able to follow our food allergy policy, and take all reasonable precautions to avoid cross-contamination. We are happy to respond to any specific requests for further information regarding allergens in our kitchens prior to your visit. All of our managers, wait staff, chefs and kitchen staff are fully trained on our allergen policy and any questions can be answered prior to orders being taken.

Additional Terms & Conditions

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers can be purchased at The George & Dragon Hotel or email us at info@georgeanddragoncley.co.uk. The cards can be redeemed at The George & Dragon Hotel only.

Gift vouchers cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash.

If the balance of an intended purchase is higher than the gift voucher amount, the remaining balance can be settled by cash or card. If the intended purchase is lower than the gift voucher amount, any amount over will be returned in cash.

All gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Any remaining balance will be deducted to nil and forfeited on the date of expiry.

Gift vouchers remain the property of The George & Dragon Cley LTD and may not be defaced, tampered with, or interfered with, without our consent.

Regretfully, we are unable to replace lost or stolen vouchers.

Guesty WiFi

By accessing our guest WiFi, you agree that you are of legal age, and have read, understood, and accept our terms and conditions.

  • The guest WiFi is provided at The George & Dragon Cley’ discretion, for guests to use while visiting our venue.
  • We are unable to guarantee the WiFi service, or particular WiFi speeds. Guest access to the network may be blocked, suspended, or terminated at any time, for any reason.
  • Guests using the WiFi agree that they are fully responsible for their use. Guests agree not to use the WiFi network for any unlawful, immoral, or otherwise prohibited purpose.
  • The George & Dragon Cley are not responsible for any content accessed by the user through the WiFi, and cannot be held liable for any damage, undesired resources, or detrimental effects arising from, or connected to, usage of the Guest WiFi.
  • The George & Dragon Cley reserve the right to change the service, the features of the service, or the terms and conditions, at any time without notice to the user.
